| Mount Tateyama above the clouds |

| By November, it's midwinter on Mount Tateyama in the Northern Japanese Alps. Here, the snow can be two to three meters deep and although it's often snowy, windy and cloudy, on a clear day it becomes a different world of virgin white. Down below one can see the Midagahara Plateau, Mount Kuwasaki appearing from behind a bank of cloud, and in the distance, Mount Hakusan in the Kaga region. |
