KeyMed manufactures a range of Olympus medical and industrial accessories, and manages the sales of Olympus industrial equipment throughout the world except Asia, and medical products in the UK and Ireland.
In environmental activity, KeyMed has significantly improved its waste separation by installing vending cup collection bins to collect 40,000 vending cups a month. The collected cups are taken away by 'Save-a-cup' who then turn the recycled plastic into saleable objects, e.g. desk furniture.
In communication with the local community, KeyMed recognises that the pursuit of profit alone is an empty vessel and, together with its employees, tries to put something back into the community in a positive sense. KeyMed supports a large number of charities and organisations in a significant way, and encourages its managers and staff to take an active role in socially-responsible projects, for example governorships of local schools and overseas initiatives. Key areas supported in the last year have included:
| |
Education-numerous local schools through practical and financial assistance. |
| |
Road safety, helping to save lives. |
| |
Local community charities, including The John Grooms Southend Appeal, which is raising money to build a state-of-the-art home for 24 severely disabled people in Southend. |
| |
The International Community |

- |
The Chernobyl Children’s Project (Helping children affected by the Chernobyl disaster. |
