Efforts(Olympus America Inc.(San Jose National Service Center(NSC)
NSC is involved in the service of medical products, administration of OMES, and distribution.
During 2004, the National Service Center (NSC) continued with its recycling activities pertaining to paper, cartridges, cardboard, foam packing, lamps, batteries and electronic wastes. The NSC and the branches began repairs and service of endoscopes with the recently introduced lead-free solders. In addition, the NSC moved ahead towards its goal of achieving ISO 14001 certification by early 2006. The Environmental policy manual and the SOPs for specific environmental activities were completed. A massive employee environmental awareness and education program was initiated. This included displays of NSC environmental policy and objectives, and various activities on the NSC’s LCD monitors and also on table displays in the cafeteria. Environmental data and the various activities currently being implemented were also displayed in the display center in the cafeteria. An employee ISO training and ISO auditors training were also recently completed.
