Efforts of FY2006
In FY2006, Olympus (Shenzhen) Industrial Ltd. (OSZ) had made effort as following environmental and CSR activities:
1) Award for Contribution to Waste Reduction Activities in Shenzhen
As part of its efforts to eliminate waste and environmental pollution, the city government of Shenzhen, China implemented a waste reduction program in FY 2006. OSZ participated in this program and earned considerable acclaim for its initiatives. In January 2007 the Shenzhen city government presented the company with an award consisting of a medal, a certificate, a cash prize of 100,000 yuan, and the title of "Outstanding Company." Favorable coverage of the award by local newspapers and television stations has enhanced the reputation of OSZ in Shenzhen.
2) Participation in 8th Shenzhen High-Tech Fair as "Clean Company"
In response to an invitation from the city government of Shenzhen, which organized the event, OSZ participated in the fair as an exhibitor in the "clean industries and companies" section.
3) Approval as Shenzhen City Recycling Economy Model (December 2006)
4) Events in Environmental Awareness Month (June 2006)
OSZ held a design competition for the best logo for Environmental Awareness Month. There were 45 entries from which the best logo was chosen. In another measure to raise employee awareness of the environment and the need to cut CO2 emissions, 45 employees planted 15 Malayan banyan trees on the factory grounds.
