KeyMed (Medical & Industrial Equipment) Ltd.

Efforts of FY2007

Environmental Activities

KeyMed has opened its award winning factory in Southend on Sea. Featuring a ground source heat pump, solar panels, rainwater harvesting and a very high level of insulation, this building has a substantially lower carbon footprint than traditional buildings of a similar size.

Community-based CSR/Environmental Activities

Work in the community continues with KeyMed providing support for local schools and colleges. KeyMed staff can often be found in local schools either acting on the school governing boards, helping out with after school activities or bringing their practical experience and knowledge into the classroom.

Social Contribution

Olympus has worked for many years with the Chernobyl Children's Project (UK), a charity providing practical support to children in Belarus affected by the fallout from the Chernobyl Nuclear accident in 1986.

One particular problem relates to children with spina bifida, who often suffer with incontinence. Mr Malcolm Lucas, a Consultant Urologist from Swansea, with the financial and practical support of Olympus KeyMed began work with the Chernobyl Children's Project to improve the quality of life for these children. Mr Lucas has trained the local Belarussian hospital staff and, following the purchase of much needed equipment by Olympus KeyMed, the doors were opened to Belarus' first children's continence clinic.
