Efforts of FY2007
Olympus Winter & Ibe GmbH (OWI) has successfully maintained the environmental standard certification acc. to ISO 14001 during the annual surveillance audit since 2001.
For the identification of new potentials for environmental protection and projects for continuous improvements regarding OWI's environmental activities a close cooperation has been established with the environmental authority of the City of Hamburg.
The following projects are results from this cooperation and are highlighting the environmental activities at OWI:
- Installation of a new air compressor (57,8 t/a CO2 prevention). For this project an appropriation
(14.500 €) have been granted by the environmental authority of the City of Hamburg.
- Optimization of the control system for the heating system in the production area ≈Saving energy 96.000 kWh/a
- During the modernisation of the manufacturing area following points will be considered:
- Use of energy optimized lighting in the reconstructed manufacturing area
- Layout of the reconstructed manufacturing area so that the impacts from the working environment are as low as reasonable practicable
