Olympus Optical Technology Philippines, Inc. (OPI) upholds its commitment to continual improvement of the environmental management system and prevention of pollution. OPI continues to promote environmental awareness and foster cooperative spirit among members and stakeholders.
ISO14001 Certification
OPI successfully passed the re-certification audit on environmental management system based on ISO14001:2004 last June 2008.
Environment Week Celebration
OPI implemented Environmental Week last June 23-27, 2008 with a theme Sustainable Environment: A Call for Global Partnership. OPI aimed to increase awareness of all members on the current environmental problems and on how each one of us can contribute to its preservation. To achieve the aim, an environmental booth was constructed and a two-day film showing was presented to the members.
Tree Planting Activities
OPI revisited the mahogany trees planted 3 years ago in Tuyan, Naga, Cebu last July 2008. The purpose of the revisit was to maintain the area by clearing the weeds and replaced new seedlings for withered trees. In addition, OPI joined the tree planting activity in Buhisan, Cebu last July 2008, in participation with FAMEA and PBSP. OPI also planted a total of 1,500 seedlings in Transcentral Highway Balamban Cebu last February 2009.
