Olympus Eco-Products : Compact Digital Camera µ 1030SW/Stylus 1030SW
This compact digital camera that can be used in any environment features waterproof*1 to a depth of 10 meters, shockproof against falls from 2.0m*2, crush-proof against loads of 100kg*3, and freeze-proof down to a temperature of minus 10°C*4. With realized hard use under the sever environment, it is the most first*5 28mm*6 wide 3.6x optical zoom in the world.
With the added benefits of performance, this camera has realized saving resources, which has contributed product environmental burden smaller.
*1 Equivalent to Level 8 protection under the JIS standard, and means that the camera can be used underwater for the time and at the pressure specified by Olympus.
*2 The test was conducted using a method based on Olympus quality standards and devised by Olympus on the basis of a U.S. Department of Defense standard for testing military equipment (MIL Standard 81 OF Method 516.5 Selecting Procedure IV). Statements concerning the shock-resistance of this product are not intended to imply any guarantee that the product will never break or malfunction under any circumstances, since impact conditions may vary.

Major Features as Eco-Products

Hazardous substances-free product
It does not use any materials prohibited by the Environment-related Substances Used in Product Control Rules. No polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is used in the electrical insulation of interconnection and structural materials as well, and the lenses are made using eco-glass containing no lead, cadmium or arsenic.
Resource saving
Compared with conventional products, this product consumes about 19% less ones packaging weight and 40% less ones packaging volume, that also contribute less environmental burdens occurring during distribution.
Use of corrugated cardboard for packaging and cushioning
To facilitate recycling, we use only cardboard to package and cushion our products.
Material Labeling
Also to facilitate recycling, information about materials is shown on all plastic parts that are large enough to carry labels.
LCA Results*
Environmental burdens occurring during distribution account for approximately 50% of all environmental burdens during the life of the product.
