Olympus Eco-Products : Inverted microscopes CKX31SF/ CKX41SF

Inverted microscopes for routine observation makes it possible to conduct phase contrast observation(*1), in a comfortable standing position. We are making environmental efforts relating to these products, such as environmental conservation and safety, and saving energy.

(*1)Phase contrast observationis microscopy method to see objects utilizing a difference in the refractive index. For example, with a bright field microscope, plankton cannot be observed very well in extremely clear water, but can be seen using phase-contrast microscopes.

Use of Lead-free Eco-glass for Optics
Leadand arsenic-free Eco-glass is used for all optics, such as lenses and prisms.

Lead-free soldering
100% lead-free soldering is used for our products.

Hexavalent chromium- free surface treatment
Hexavalent chromium and lead are no longer used in metal parts, or for surface-treatment..

Use of Cardboard for packaging materials
We are making packaging materials with cardboard to recycle readily.

Material Identification Marks
Material identification marks are placed on the main molded resin parts and die-cast parts to accelerate recycling.

Environmental impact assessment of Products by LCA
We carried out environmental impact assessment of products by using Olympus LCA, and verified their lifetime environmental loads.

*The definition of "no longer used" is based on the standard of our company. Please note that those substances have not been excluded from some of accessories yet.
