The E-500, the world's most lightweight^* handy digital SLR camera offers full-course performance such as high-definition with 8 mega pixels, easy to-view large LCD monitor.

It is an environmentally-conscious product, using Eco-glass (Lead-free, cadmium-free and arsenic-free optical glass) and restricting to use hazardous substances according to the Environmental-related Substances Used in Product Control Rules.

Endurance strength and Resource saving
To create a digital SLR camera that can be carried easily anytime and any place, Olympus built the E-500's body with a "box" structure that employs fiberglass-reinforced engineering resin and a stainless steel hybrid chassis, while carbon fiber material is used in the mirror box to maintain the strength of the body. The result is a camera that features not only higher rigidity but also lighter than any conventional digital SLR's.
