Energy Conservation
Sustained energy conservation activities, including changes to the way air conditioners, lighting, coolant systems and air compressors are operated, resulted in a 17% reduction in electric power consumption between fiscal 2007 and the end of fiscal 2010. The total saving over the three-year period amounted to approximately 5.4 million kwH.
Improving Environmental Awareness - Educational Activities
In September, a program was implemented to raise the environmental awareness of employees by informing them about developments at international climate change prevention conferences and China's new energy policies. Employees were also invited to submit suggestions for improved energy and resource conservation measures at the plant.
In November an evacuation drill based on a fire disaster scenario was held. The aim of the drill was to improve safety preparedness, including first aid, rescue and firefighting skills.
