Environmental Activities

Reducing CO2Emissions

In support of the Olympus Carbon 1/2 2020 objective, the Stamford facility had evaluated all area for energy reduction. New energy efficient windows, an energy efficient air compressor and HVAC, and programmable thermostats and motion-detective light sensors were installed in 2010. As the result, this facility itself reduced 561 tons of CO2 emission from their 2007 base.

Safety Awareness Day

The first annual safety and environmental awareness event was held on June 22nd, 2010, at our Maple Grove campus. All employees were invited, and each received free reusable, recycled shopping bags. More than 10 local vendors participated to this event, including the Maple Grove police and fire departments. They provided information to educate employees on safety, energy conservation, recycling, and greener alternatives to consider when purchasing office and household supplies.

Community-based Environmental Activities

Recycling/Donation Programs and Volunteer Activities

OGA organizes several volunteer activities and donation programs throughout the year, including food drives, organizing community volunteer-projects for its community, and raising donations for Tsunami victims in Japan.

The Stamford campus, for example, donated 25 pairs of eye glasses to local residents, and 37 used cellular phones to troops overseas through their local organization in 2010. At our distribution center in Maple Grove, 100% of used cardboard and wood pallets are recycled.

Employees at Nesher, one of our R&D centers in Israel, cleaned the open area near the facility on their National Cleanup Day. All participants recognized it takes simple actions to improve the environment.

We are all pleased to contribute what we can to create and sustain safer and better communities.
