Product assessment from the customer's perspective: Product safety assessment
Quality Evaluation for Safety of Products
The Olympus Group focuses on quality checks at the product development stage to ensure our products are of the highest quality.
The 10m wave anechoic chamber, built in 2004, offers world-class performance and has been certified by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP, U.S.A.) as well as by the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO, the Netherlands) on electromagnetic noise testing.
It was also the first safety testing facility for electrical medical devices in Japan to be certified by the Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (JAB) under ISO/IEC 17025Note1, which is the international standard for safety testing and certification facilities for electro-medical devices.
In 2008, a 10m anechoic chamber was added, and we also began to build a testing system that would be suitable for testing under the latest standard for electro-medical devices (IEC 60601-1, 3rd Edition). In addition to the development of facilities and equipment, we also implemented an active program of training for assessment technicians, and several employees became qualified as EMC iNARTENote2 technicians. We will continue to develop reliable assessment systems as part of our ongoing commitment to product safety.
Note1: ISO/IEC17025: General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
Note2: EMC: Electro-Magnetic Compatibility
