Q : Where can we view information about your environmental activities?
A : We provide timely disclosure of as much information as possible on our website. Highlights of our activities each year can be found in our Special Features of Activity Case Studies and reports.
Q : Do you have an environmental policy?
A : In 1992 we adopted the Olympus Group Environmental Charter as a declaration of our basic philosophy on environmental matters, and as a framework for turning that philosophy into actual environmental initiatives. When we subsequently formulated the Olympus Group Corporate Conduct Charter, the essence of the Environmental Charter was embodied in the words "Harmony with the Environment."
Q : What environmental management systems have you established?
A : We implement environment management through company-wide environmental development functions based on links among the environment-related functions of environment-related committees, the Environment Management Division, Corporate Planning Division, and the Risk Management Bureau.
Q : As a manufacturer, what environmental initiatives do you implement in relation to your products?
A : We contribute to the establishment of a sustainable human society and the maintenance of a healthy environment by creating products that not only provide superior performance, but are also safe, environmentally responsible, and designed to protect the environment.
Q : Do you publish material balance data showing the environmental impact of your business activities?
A : A: Olympus monitors all environmental loads resulting from its business activities, from the resource input stage through to the production and distribution of products, and the disposal and recycling of waste. We are continually working to reduce those loads.
Q : What initiatives do you implement within and beyond your corporate organization to promote environmental activities?
A : We actively undertake environmental initiatives in partnership with stakeholders within and outside of our organization.
