Q : What is your personnel system policy based on?
A : Olympus formulated an Olympus Human Rights and Labor Policy in 2005 as part of our commitment to the creation of a work environment where every member can perform their best and unleash their full potential. We also aim at ensuring respect for human rights in the Olympus Group.
Q : Do you have any measures in place to help prevent, detect and improve labor problems?
A : Olympus gives each manager a copy of the Workplace Management Handbook. A section offering consultation to employees who become the subject of various forms of harassment and a helpline for compliance-related issues were also set up within the Compliance Department.
Q : What activities do you administer to ensure labor safety?
A : The labor union forms an Occupational Safety and Health Committee at each plant location. The Committee carries out an array of programs, including periodic patrols and traffic safety guidance, designed to eliminate occupational hazards and workplace accidents.
Q : What criteria do you use for personnel appointments?
A : Olympus' appointments are made on the basis of individual professional abilities. We do not discriminate based on gender in the recruitment process. We also have an open-door policy for non-Japanese and workers with a disability.
Q : Do you have any unique welfare programs?
A : Olympus upholds respect for human rights and is committed to the creation of a dynamic and lively working environment. To this end, Olympus rolls out programs both employees and their spouses can benefit from.
