| This was the first camera with a glass film platen. It was introduced to ensure the flatness of the film surface, but static electricity produced by friction between the glass and the film caused a discharge effect, and the glass was subsequently replaced with a metal platen. Subsequent research and modifications, including platen improvements, allowed Olympus to ensure satisfactory film flatness even with the shallow focal depth of a 35mm camera. The 35IVa was priced at ¥15,000. |
