Furthering the development of next-generation health care, advanced research in bioscience fields encompasses the analysis of such diverse subjects as brain mechanisms; the development and transfer mechanisms of cancer; and the effects and metabolism of medications. To support such research, Olympus offers molecular imaging technology that enables the observation of the movements and mechanisms of molecules within living organisms. In clinical practice, this technology is effective in providing definitive diagnoses of diseases and in helping to determine the best course of treatment. Olympus's high-precision microscope technology also contributes widely to society through its use in science education and research in the areas of food science, agriculture, fishery and livestock husbandry.
Products
FV10i Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope
Employing newly developed electric-powered operation and software, the FV10i offers users easier and quicker setting by enabling the selection of observation points on a monitor using a mouse. In addition, in one complete housing the FV10i features all the required capabilities, including darkroom functions. Furthermore, its compact body allows it to be placed anywhere. Highly sensitive, it can also detect the faint fluorescence emitted by living cells.

FSX100 Fluorescent Image Capturing Device
In response to researchers' requests for an easier-to-use microscope, Olympus introduced the FSX100, which provides high-quality auto fluorescence imaging (AFI) and picture shooting using a simple to operate mouse guided by a monitor display. This all-in-one system for fluorescence observation does not require a darkroom for picture processing. Therefore, the compact FSX100 can be used in any setting. In addition, the high-resolution objective lenses and high-performance camera of the FSX100 realize crisp fluorescent images, helping to significantly improve the working efficiency of busy researchers and beginning microscope users.

FV1000-MPE Multiphoton Laser Scanning Microscope
Employing near-infrared light, which possess excellent tissue permeability, the FV1000-MPE realizes the 3-D observation of samples of living organisms as thick as 1mm, a world-leading accomplishment and one which preexisting confocal laser microscopes are unable to perform. In combination with a special objective lens for multiphoton observation, the FV1000-MPE enables in vivo (meaning "in the living body" in Latin) observation as well as in vitro deep tissue observation of thick slices of the brain and other specimens. With this achievement, Olympus is contributing to the advancement of research, particularly in the neurosurgery field.
