Misaki Mizukami

Misaki Mizukami

Misaki Mizukami was born in Ichikawa City in Japan's Chiba Prefecture, and graduated from Ryukoku University. She took up photography in 1993, focusing on insects as her primary subject, and began studying with Kazuo Unno in 1996. Mizukami is also a trustee of the Society of Scientific Photography, a member of the Photographic Society of Japan, and a trustee of the Ichikawa Professional Photographers'Society.


On the wonder of photography

The tiny world of insects is a world of very big surprises. Even insects measuring only a few millimeters have a rich range of facial expressions. Their daily existence is full of life-and-death drama. If you just look into the viewfinder, the insects at your feet will tell you an amazing story of life and nature.
