Notice to Users of the DP20 Digital Camera for Microscopy
Thank you purchasing our product.
With the DP20 series digital camera for microscopy (models DP20 and DP20-5), we have found that files of images taken in February of a leap year and saved on a Compact Flash (CF) card, as well as the folders in which those images are saved, have an incorrect date.
To correct this problem, we have created a firmware update program. Please use this program to update the firmware of your DP20 (models DP20 and DP20-5).
We apologize for any inconvenience already caused, and will make utmost effort to prevent a recurrence and to ensure strict quality assurance. Your kind understanding would be much appreciated.
Products affected:
- DP20 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A0]
- DP20 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A1]
- DP20 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A2]
- DP20 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A3]
- DP20-5 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A0]
- DP20-5 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A1]
- DP20-5 digital camera for microscopy with a serial number whose last two digits are [A2]
How to find the model number:
The model number and serial number of your DP20 can be found on the label attached to the bottom of the controller (see Figure 1).
No firmware update is necessary for any product other than those listed above.

Phenomenon:
- Date and time information may be incorrect for files of images taken by the DP20 in February of a leap year and saved on a Compact Flash (CF) card, as well as the folders in which those images are saved (see Figure 2).
- Each time an image is saved in February of a leap year, and its save folder is played back or index-displayed on the DP20, the date is modified to the previous date (see Figure 2).
[1] Image taken on February 1: Its creation/modification date may not be displayed or a wrong date is displayed.
[2] Image taken between February 2 and 29: Its creation date is backdated by one day.

Figure 2: View on Windows Explorer
* This phenomenon appears when the file of an image taken by the DP20 or folder created by the DP20 is imported to a PC via a Compact Flash (CF) card reader or other means and its time and date information is browsed by Windows Explorer, etc. If you use the DP20-DRV image transfer software or the DP2-BSW software for digital cameras with the DP20, this phenomenon will not occur.
* This phenomenon affects only time and date information; images themselves are not affected.
Cause:
The DP20 firmware incorrectly processed the date/time/day of the week.
Countermeasure:
To remove the problem, please download the relevant firmware update program from one of the links below and update the DP20 firmware.
