Dr. Michio Oishi,
PhD: is the Director of the Kazusa DNA Research Institute and born in Hokkaido.
Following completion of his graduate studies at the University of Tokyo, he
earned the Doctor of Science (PhD) in biochemistry and biophysics. He then
spent 16 years in U.S. first as a research associate at Princeton University
and then as the Member of the New York Public Health Research Institute as
well as a research professor at New York University Medical Center. After his
return to Japan, he served as a professor at the University of Tokyo and as
a Director of the National Institute of Bioscience and Human Technology. He
has been an active proponent of genomic as well as complimentary DNA analysis
of plants and humans in his current position since 1997. He goes fishing in
the waters off of the Boso Peninsula near his research facilities for refreshment.
He is a good cook and prepares the fish he catches. Lately he has been challenging
making miso (bean paste). |
