Yasuhiro Ueda was born in Mitaka City, Tokyo, in 1957. He joined Olympus in 1980. After working in technology development and development planning for endoscopes, he became involved in planning for the endoscope business and the medical systems business. He later headed the Life Science Planning Division of the Life Science Group, and in 2005 he became Division Manager of the Diagnostic Systems Division. He is also Division Manager of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Division. In 2006 he was appointed an Executive Officer of Olympus Corporation.
