Executive Managing Officer, Head of Life Science Group, Olympus Corporation
Kazuhisa Yanagisawa was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1949. After majoring in applied physics at Tohoku University, he joined Olympus in 1974. While working for Olympus, he continued intensive studies in semiconductor technology and sensor development as a seconded researcher at Tohoku University. He has held a number of posts, including Group Leader at the Semiconductor Technology Center, Manager of the Corporate Planning Department, Manager of the Composite Precision Engineering Department, and Leader of the Genome Medicine Business Promotion Project. He became a director in 2005 and has headed the Life Science Group since April 2005.
