Yes. Years ago, professional photographers would not think of using an AF. Today, the basic idea is that there's nothing wrong if AF allows you to take decent photos. Camera developers believe they should bear this in mind when perfecting their products. What's important is the "Three As" – autofocus (AF), auto exposure (AE) and auto white balance (AWB). This was also an issue at the time of the E-1.
For example, one of the camera's basic capabilities is to photograph white subjects as white. The camera must be able to recognize that the subject is white. Even so, it would be wrong to assume you can convey the true atmosphere by over-compensating to ensure that faces in a photograph are white. This is one area that makes photography so difficult. On the other hand, it may also be an area where it is easy to differentiate our products from those of our competitors.

Neither professionals nor amateurs say they like to use cameras on the assumption that they'll use post-processing. They want cameras that offer stability in photography. In the days of conventional film, it was possible to imagine how colors might turn out depending on the light source, but digital photography involves more complex elements.
The E-3 also deals with this issue. The body incorporates a light source sensor that identifies the type of light source. Until now, it was difficult for a camera to distinguish whether light was the color of indoor fluorescent lighting or natural light outdoors. Now, the sensor does the work. Steady evolution makes it possible to take photos that you can really feel comfortable with.
