| Olympus Medical Systems Corporation (President: Haruhito
Morishima) supports the Outreach Program run by the World organization
of Digestive Endoscopy (OMED)*1 and the World Gastroentorology
Organization (OMGE)*2 to improve medical services in developing
countries through the increased use of endoscopes in screening and
therapy. As part of its contribution in this area, Olympus Medical
Systems will donate*3 an endoscope system worth ¥20 million,
including an electrosurgical unit and endotherapy devices, to the
Yalgado Ouedraogo University Medical Center*4, which is
the core medical institution in the African country of Burkina Faso*5. |

| The Outreach Program, which has been in operation
since September 2003, targets developing countries in South America,
Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Each year, a hospital
in one country is selected to receive a donated endoscope system.
The system will be utilized to provide education in endoscopy and
training for nursing and medical staffs. |

| Olympus Medical Systems has supported the program
from its inception. In September 2003, it donated an endoscope system
to the Eva Perón Teaching Hospital in Rosario, Argentina. It
has also provided additional support, including equipment training
and post-installation servicing. |

medical institution in Burkina Faso. It is an 850-bed hospital
and services 1.5 million people annually. |
