The OM2000 SLR
SUMMARY
Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. is pleased to introduce the OM2000 SLR. With its attractive pricing and high-quality design, this 35 mm manual model is the ideal choice for serious photographers. It is rounded out by the simultaneous introduction of the ultracompact Electronic Flash S20 and a kit including the S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 35-70 mm F3.5-4.8 lens. The S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 70-210 mm F4.5-5.6 lens is also available.
The perfect moment
The manual OM2000 SLR features both Spot Metering and Center-Weighted Average Metering. With two systems available, a photographer can pick the appropriate one for a wide range of lighting conditions, including difficult backlit scenes. The choice also offers the freedom of creating striking effects with any combination of lens aperture and shutter speed. Shooting at speeds up to 1/2000 sec., the mechanical shutter works with or without batteries.
The OM2000's die-cast aluminum body is designed for outstanding precision and durability. Made of a ternary-compound alloy, the bronze-colored finish on the top of the camera underlines the overall quality.
Accurate results are simplified by the Preview function. When the Preview Button on the side of the lens is pressed, the current F stop is set so the depth of field can be checked in the viewfinder. Using the Multiple Exposure function, a photographer can also overlay several images in a single frame.
A wider range
Introduced at the same time, the optional accessories make the most of the OM2000's creative potential.
The powerful Electronic Flash S20 has a guide number of 20 (ISO100), and it is so small that it can be carried in a pocket. The compact, lightweight S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 35-70 mm F3.5-4.8 lens comes with the OM2000 Kit. The optional S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 70-210 mm F4.5-5.6 lens is available separately.
MAIN FEATURES
Fully mechanical shutter
Covering the range from 1 sec. to 1/2000 sec., the OM2000's mechanical shutter is always ready since it does not require battery power. There are also a Bulb setting and Cable Release for extended exposures in low light and even capturing the night sky. The flash is synchronized at shutter speeds of 1/125 sec. or less.

Center-Weighted Average and Spot Light Metering systems
In addition to the Center-Weighted Average Light Metering of most SLRs, the OM2000 has Spot Light Metering a particular advantage in difficult backlighting or high-contrast scenes. With its precision and ease, Spot Light Metering can also help a photographer use exposure settings more creatively. Switching between the two exposure systems is a simple matter of moving a lever.

Durable die-cast aluminum body
Although it is extremely lightweight, the OM2000's die-cast aluminum body is very strong and resistant to corrosion. With processing to fine tolerances, it ensures outstanding precision.

Durable, stylish finish
The top and bottom of the OM2000 are finished in a ternary-compound alloy made of nickel, copper and zinc. Not only is it very durable, but the finish comes in a striking bronze color with the look of quality.

Preview function
With a press of the Preview Button on the side of the lens, the current F stop is set, and the depth of field can be checked in the viewfinder.

Multiple Exposure function
By simply moving the Multiple Exposure lever, a photographer has the creative freedom of capturing several images in a single frame.

Self-timer
The Self-timer delays the shutter release so the photographer can be in the picture.

Optional accessories
Electronic Flash S20
Even though it is ultracompact and thin, the powerful Electronic Flash S20 has a guide number (GN) of 20 (ISO100 film). When the Wide-Angle Panel is used, the flash can cover the broad field of a super-wide-angle 24 mm lens (with the GN reduced to 14). The intensity of the Auto Flash can be adjusted by switching between F2.8 and F5.6, and it can be tested by triggering it manually.
S Zuiko Auto-Zoom lenses
The OM2000 Kit includes the S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 35-70 mm F3.5-4.8 lens*. The S Zuiko Auto-Zoom 70-210 mm F4.5-5.6 lens is also available for full telephoto capabilities. Both lenses are compact and lightweight. With their high resolution, the Close Focus function delivers superior results throughout the zooming range. Used at maximum magnification, the 35-70 mm lens can shoot Close Focus images as large as 12 x 18 cm, while the 70-210 mm telephoto lens can capture them up to 9.5 x 14 cm.
*Available only with the OM2000 Kit.

*Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. was changed to OLYMPUS CORPORATION as of October 1, 2003.
