Summary
Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. is pleased to introduce the Series 6 lineup of industrial videoimagescopes. The release includes nine models of the new IV6C6 Series and the IV8C6 Series as well as the IV-6 Camera Control Unit.
With their an ultracompact CCDs, the Series 6 scopes are designed for maintenance of petroleum/gas/chemical plants, office buildings and apartment complexes along with inspection of jet engine turbines. The IV8C6 Series has an external diameter of 8.4 mm, while the IV6C6 Series is even smaller with an external diameter of 6 mm-the world's thinnest design. They also feature dramatic improvements in image quality and brightness as well as a full-screen display.
The Series 6's many other advances include the Five-Button Remote Control. Positioned on both sides of the scope's control section, it simplifies access to a number of functions. The design also features a tungsten braid on the insertion tube, instead of the conventional stainless steel covering. Combined with the widely acclaimed Olympus Tapered Flex (TF)tube*1, it makes insertion easier and improves durability.
IV8C6
Dual-image display
Available for IV8C6 scopes, the optional Dual-Image Adapter improves inspection accuracy with its simultaneous direct and side views*2. The adapter can also be used with the IW-2 Videoanalyzer for depth measurement*3 and inspections of large areas*4.
IV6C6
360degrees inspections
With its 6 mm insertion tube, the IV6C6 Series not only sets a new mark for thin design, but also has the versatility of omnidirectional articulation. While conventional models have two-way, up/down articulation, the IV6C6 scopes bend up/down and left/right-a particularly important advantage in inspections of curved pipes and gas turbines.
IV-6 Camera Control Unit
Outstanding portability
With its functions held to a minimum, the dedicated IV-6 Camera Control Unit offers superior portability. The compact unit measures 149 (W)x50(H)x240(D) mm-approximately 60% the size of the earlier IV-5A model-and it weighs only 1.1 kg.
MAIN FEATURES
Dramatically improved image quality
The Series 6's high-resolution CCD creates a sharp, full-screen image on the monitor. Its greater sensitivity also makes the image brighter-the key to easier, more precise inspections of fine cracks and large areas.

Lightweight, ergonomic design
With the compact scopes weighing only 450 g, they are much easier to hold for extended periods, making inspections almost fatigue-free. Ergonomic comfort is also enhanced by the contours of the scopes' control unit.

IV6C6
Omnidirectional articulation
The IV6C6 Series scopes bend four ways-up/down and left/right movement that makes it much easier to inspect curved pipes and gas turbines. With the angulation range increased to 150degrees , rear-view inspection is also possible.

Convenient, durable and tough
Both new series use tungsten-instead of the usual stainless steel-for the braid around the insertion tube. The exclusive Olympus Tapered Flex (TF) tube is already noted for its easy insertion, and the tungsten material makes it even simpler. The new tube is also impregnated with a special resin*5 that improves both insertion and durability.
With their waterproofing and greater resistance to wear, the scopes are suited to the most demanding applications, including inspection of water supply and drainage systems.

Broad lineup of optical adapters
When an IV8C6 scope is equipped with the optional Dual-Image Adapter, the direct and side views are displayed simultaneously on the monitor. With this convenience, a defective part can be shown in the side view while the internal wall of a pipe is displayed in the direct view. The Dual-Image Adapter can also be combined with the 3-D Measurement Adapter and a videoanalyzer to calculate the distance between two points on a line or measure depth. With its bright lens, the optional Wide Cavity Adapter is suited to inspections of large areas. When it is fitted with the optional Side View Adapter, the IV6C6 delivers super-macro images from a focal distance of only 1 mm. With this high- magnification close-up, it is suited to front-view inspections of the internal walls of small-diameter pipes.

Five-Button Remote Control
The Five-Button Remote Control simplifies operation and boosts efficiency. Positioned on the sides of the scopes' control section, it gives easy access to Record, Zoom, Enhance and other functions.

Audio Annotation
The Series 6 models are the world's first with a small microphone in the control section. When it is linked to a recording device, audio notes can be recorded along with images.

IV-6 Camera Control Unit
Compact, lightweight and portable
With its functions held to a minimum, the IV-6 Camera Control Unit is exceptionally compact and lightweight. Easy to take along to field inspections, it is 60% the size of the earlier IV-5A, and it weighs only 1.1 kg. The IV-6 also has an electronically controlled shutter that automatically adjusts the brightness to optimize the exposure in any lighting conditions.

Notes *1 TF tube: The pliable tip passes easily through curved channels, while the tube is increasingly rigid toward the base so pushing force is transmitted efficiently.
*2 Direct and side views: The direct and side views are displayed simultaneously side by side on the monitor.
*3 Depth measurement: When the dedicated adapter is used, the left and right optical systems generate three-dimensional measurements of the subject (also called stereo measurement).
*4 Large-area inspection: Large areas can be inspected when the scope is used with an optical adapter that has a bright lens with a low 2.5 F-stop.
*5 Special resin: To prevent fraying, the weave in the tungsten braid is filled with a special resin.
