µ[mju:] ZOOM 115
Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. is pleased to introduce the µ[mju:] Zoom 115 compact camera. The latest model in the best-selling µ[mju:] series features a 38-115mm 3X zoom lens. Complementing the striking ergonomic design, both black and champagne-gold versions are available.

The pursuit of "Small Beauty"
The µ[mju:] series' development concept of "Small Beauty" has driven a relentless pursuit of everything people are looking for-not only compactness, light weight and high performance, but also the aesthetic appeal that makes a camera enjoyable to own. Since the series was launched in 1991, some 7 million units have been shipped, and sales are continuing to increase, making the µ[mju:] one of the best-selling Olympus designs ever.
The µ[mju:] Zoom 115 is the fifth model in this continuing success story. While the 3X zoom lens opens up new photographic possibilities, the design retains the µ[mju:] series' distinctive contours and a sliding lens barrier that contributes to both portability and style.

More versatile, more convenient
With 38-115mm zooming that goes beyond the capabilities of a lens in the 2X class, the latest µ[mju:] model is ready for shots ranging from expansive landscapes to clear, natural-looking portraits. To ensure outstanding resolution, it also has the precision of high-performance glass aspherical lens elements.
Even with this level of quality, the size of the lens group has been reduced, so the µ[mju:] Zoom 115 is more compact and lightweight than earlier models. It measures only 120mm (W) X 64mm (H) X 49mm (D), and it weighs only 250 grams.
The wide range of other advanced features includes weatherproofing that takes the worry out of photography on a rainy day. The high-precision AF system has 860 steps, while the six flash modes can handle most lighting situations. The Auto Macro system can take close-ups of nearly post-card size throughout the zooming range.
Designed for today's sophisticated tastes, the µ[mju:] Zoom 115 comes in an elegant black and a stylish champagne gold.
Main Features
High-performance 38-115mm 3X zoom lens
The µ[mju:] Zoom 115 offers the versatility of a 38-115mm 3X zoom lens. The high-performance aspherical lens elements not only deliver superior resolution, but contribute to the camera's smaller dimensions and lower weight.

Sophisticated design available in two colors
The ergonomic design's flowing contours account for the camera's excellent handling characteristics and attractive looks. There is also a sliding lens barrier that not only protects the lens and viewfinder, but adds to the sophisticated lines. The µ[mju:] Zoom 115 comes in a stylish champagne-gold color as well as black.

High-precision AF system with 860 steps
With a maximum of 860 steps, the AF system ensures sharp focusing at any point from the 60cm Macro setting to infinity.

Worry-free weatherproofing
The µ[mju:] Zoom 115's weatherproofing protects against sand and dust as well as a sudden shower or splashing. Meeting IEC grade 4 standards for " splash-proof," it offers extra reassurance on a rainy day, at a beach or on a ski slope.

Versatile flash modes
Six modes make it easy to take great flash pictures. There is also a soft flash system that automatically adjusts the intensity of the illumination according to the distance from the subject.
To ensure that the illumination is appropriate, the flash fires automatically in low light or backlighting.
The red-eye effect-a common problem with flash portraits-is reduced by a series of pre-flashes emitted before the main flash fires.
The flash does not fire in this mode, making it the right choice when a flash is prohibited or the photographer wants to capture the mood of the moment.
The flash fires with every shot. Even when there are such complications as sidelighting or backlighting, the Fill-in flash produces the balanced illumination essential to a lifelike image.
Night Scene
The intensity of the flash is determined by the foreground, while the length of the exposure is set according to the backdrop. Slowing the shutter speed to as long as 4 sec., this mode captures both the subject in the font and the background scenery.
Red-Eye Reducing Night Scene
This mode reduces the redeye effect in pictures taken in the Night Scene mode. (Except for the series of pre-flashes, it is identical to the Night Scene mode.)
