Summary
Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. (President: Masatoshi Kishimoto) is pleased to announce the release of its new FMD-200 Face-Mounted Display on February 26, 2000. The FMD-200 is the world's lightest display at 85g*, and features a comfortable fit and enhanced image quality.
Smaller and Lighter than Ever
The FMD-200 uses a 0.55-inch LCD panel and reduces the size of the free-shaped prism developed by Olympus, resulting in a compact FMD that is the world's lightest at 85g* (23% lighter than the FMD-100). The FMD-200 also has an improved fit and slim, stylish design. The redesigned free-shaped prism and high-performance optical filter give the FMD-200 even sharper image quality.
The compact and lightweight goggles and new frame minimize fatigue during extended use. Smaller and slimmer control unit, as well as smaller display unit, has enhanced mobility, making it easier to enjoy the images anywhere you are, including even your travel time.
The popular image adjustment controls (color balance, contrast, sharpness, etc.) and bass boost function further enhance a user's experience.
The spread of DVD players and emergence of video game consoles capable of DVD playback is enriching the home-theater environment. Olympus, with the FMD-200, is providing an easy and comfortable way to enjoy realistic images. The FMD-200 is positioned as the standard model in the Eye-Trek series and Olympus hopes to expand the market for this newest model even further.

Compact Design-the World's Lightest at 85g*
The compact design of the FMD-200 makes it the world's lightest display at 85g*. This is accomplished by using a 0.55-inch LCD panel and reducing the size of the free-shaped prism.

Comfortable Fit for Less Fatigue
The significant decrease in size and weight results in a markedly improved fit and less fatigue during use.

Clear Image Quality
The FMD-200 achieves sharp images through its high-performance optical filter and redesigned free-shaped prism, which increases accuracy.

Stylish Design
The thin and stylish design adopts a popular pearly silver color.

Improved Mobility
Smaller and slimmer control unit, as well as smaller display unit, has enhanced mobility, making it easier to enjoy the images anywhere you are, including even your travel time.

Redesigned Frame
The improved fit of the redesigned frame markedly reduces fatigue during relatively long use, such as when watching movies or concert performances. Moreover, the frame adjuster which had been accessory for previous models, is included in the main body of the FMD-200, which allows for easy adjustment to fit any user.

Image Adjustment and Bass Boost Controls
The popular image adjustment controls (color balance, contrast, sharpness, etc.) and bass boost function enhance viewing pleasure.
