Digital Voice Recorder VN-180/VN-90 outside Japan.
Voice-Trek is a registered trademark of Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. in Japan. |
Summary |
Olympus Optical Co., Ltd., (President: Masatoshi Kishimoto) will release the Voice-Trek VN-180 on June 9, 2000. The product is an IC recorder that is ideally suited to business applications. The Voice-Trek features easy oversize buttons and an LCD display, up to 180 minutes of recording time and a voice schedule function in a stylish, lightweight, and super-slim design. The popular edition, Voice-Trek VN-90, with a maximum recording time of 90 minutes will be launched on the same date. |
Voice-Trek VN-180 and VN-90 are new additions to the Voice-Trek product line following last years' successful launch of the stylishly designed V-90, and the DS-150, which is suited to business applications with its PC connectivity.
Even more so than in the past, the Voice-Trek is a clear result of the design concept "easy for anyone to use." The oversize control buttons and the LCD display are on the same side, making it simple for anyone to use.
In addition, the Voice-Trek retains all the traditional IC recorder functions, such as a 300-message capacity, VCVA Recording and Fast Playback as well as Clock, Schedule Folder and Alarm Playback functions, all of which rated highly in the earlier products. It also records for up to 180 minutes (VN-90, up to 90 minutes).
The slim, lightweight body, weighing in at only 66g with batteries and only 15 mm thick, is perfect for business applications. The Voice-Trek is very easy to carry and has a clip to prevent it from falling out of your pocket. It can also be used as an audio scheduler. |

Main Features |
1. |
Easy to Use with Oversize Control Buttons on a Compact, Lightweight and Slim Body |
Despite the compact, lightweight and slim design, weighing in at 66g with batteries and only 15 mm thick, the VN-180/VN-90 features oversize control buttons and LCD displays for easy of use. In addition, the slim body and attached clip fit neatly in your pocket and keep it from falling out. |
2. |
Up to 180 Minutes of Recording Time (for VN-180) |
The VN-180 can hold about 67 minutes of input in the Standard Playback (SP) Mode and approximately 180 minutes in the Long Playback (LP) Mode, so it can be used in a range of business applications (VN-90: SP Mode: about 33 minutes, LP Mode: about 90 minutes). The VN-180/VN-90 comes with a warning function, so when five minutes or less of recording time remains, the recording time display changes to show the remaining recording time. When one minute or less remains, a red LED flashes. |
3. |
VCVA Recording Function |
The built-in VCVA (Variable Control Voice Actuator) starts recording automatically in response to the sound of voices and stops about 1 second after the voices cease. This makes it particularly convenient for extended recording as it stops recording when there are no voices, such as in the silences during meetings, saving on memory and batteries and making playback quicker. Further, unlike with a tape recorder, there is no gap before recording begins, it hardly finds the breaks in the recording. |
4. |
Three-Folder Function |
Up to 100 messages can be stored in each of the A, B and S folders, and recordings can be classified according to use, person or other category. Files in the A and B folders show the time/date of a recording while skipping to the next message. Since the S folder can hold up to 15 messages for a given date, it is especially useful for keeping track of daily tasks and appointments. |
5. |
Message Alarm and Schedule Alarm (Alarm Playback Function) |
The Message Alarm Function can be set to playback up to 20 selected messages from the A, B and S folders by pressing any button as the beep tones sound at the scheduled time. Further, when Schedule Alarm function is engaged, the day's schedule massages can be listened to at a selected time every day, making it an ideal audio scheduler. |
6. |
Fast Playback Function |
When the Playback button is held for longer than one second, playback is speeded up to 30% faster than the normal rate. This feature is especially helpful when there is a need to playback rapidly in order to check the content of recordings quickly. |
