Olympus Optical Co., Ltd. (President: Masatoshi Kishimoto) is pleased to announce the release of the ET-MC02M direct DVD connection cable on June 1. The ET-MC02M allows users to connect Olympus' FMD-250W (currently on sale), a face-mounted display (FMD) in the company's Eye-Trek series, with a new portable DVD player from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., the DVD-PV40, which was announced today and is scheduled for release on June 1, 2001. Users can enjoy the impressive video and sound quality while outdoors, in transit, or wherever they please. |
The Olympus Eye-Trek series of personal displays are worn like sunglasses and connect to audio-visual equipment such as DVD player, VCR and game console to provide users with a large screen experience that is remarkably realistic. The FMD-250W features equivalent to 62-inch television wide-screen capabilities and has received high praise since its release last November. |
Matsushita's ultra thin DVD-PV40 is the world's smallest and lightest* DVD player and comes equipped with a dedicated DC-out connector for Eye-Trek. The ET-MC02M can be used to output power as well as video and audio signals. This feature eliminates the need for an AC adapter to power the FMD-250W and provides a simple yet sophisticated connection. The FMD-250W can also be connected and used when running the DVD player on the DY-DB60-S rechargeable battery. Moreover, support for the S-Video signal format results in image clarity that surpasses previous directly connectable portable DVD players. |
Olympus looks to joint sales promotions with Matsushita to help expand the mobile market. The company hopes more people will gain awareness of the new "Freestyle Theater" concept that allows them to enjoy impressive large screen video wherever and whenever they please. |
