With the growing popularity of digital photography, 2-megapixel class cameras that offer high print quality and easy-to-manipulate image file sizes have come to dominate the entry-level market. Last March, we introduced the CAMEDIA C-1, a 1.3-megapixel entry-level camera that was the first in a series of "easy to carry & easy to use" digital cameras. The series has proved very popular with consumers, and for the CAMEDIA C-2Zoom we therefore maintained the same development concept while adding 2-megapixel imaging for higher print quality, and 3x zoom for greater versatility. We also gave the camera a range of easy-to-use functions that will appeal to entry-level users, and a stylish and elegant design that will appeal to women. With its enhanced functionality, ease of use and elegantly refined body design, the CAMEDIA C-2Zoom is an entry-level 2-megapixel class camera that is sure to please a wide range of consumers.

High-Performance 3x Optical Zoom Lens and 2-Megapixel Imaging
The bright, F2.8 ( at wide-angle setting ) high-performance 3x zoom lens is specifically designed to optimize the performance characteristics of the 2.11-megapixel primary-color CCD, and incorporates two aspherical lens elements to ensure outstanding image clarity in a compact size. The lens' 3x zoom range is equivalent to 38 - 114mm zoom on a conventional 35mm film camera and provides excellent framing flexibility when shooting. In addition, the camera features our exclusive TruePic image processing technology for enhanced quality at any image size.

Compact, Lightweight C-1 Series Design Made Even More Elegant and Stylish
The camera's clean, stylish lines are enhanced by a sliding barrier that protects the lens and acts as the camera's power ON/OFF switch. When open, the barrier also serves as part of the grip to ensure stable holding. Three protrusions above and below the barrier provide a stylish design accent, and the body's champagne-gold finish adds to the camera's overall air of quality and refinement. Taken as a whole, the CAMEDIA C-2Zoom's compact size and elegant design are expected to appeal to a wide range of age groups and consumer target profiles.

Wide-Ranging Power Source Compatibility and Extended Battery Life
The CAMEDIA C-2Zoom can be operated using readily available AA alkaline batteries, an optional CR-V3 lithium battery pack, an optional E-7AC AC adapter, or optional NiMH batteries. Battery life has also been significantly extended: with AA alkaline batteries installed, approximately 100 photos can be taken under normal conditions, and approximately 3,000 photos can be taken under continuous shooting conditions; with a CR-V3 lithium battery pack installed, approximately 300 photos can be taken under normal conditions, and approximately 10,000 photos can be taken under continuous shooting conditions.*

Easy-to-Use In-Camera Image Editing Functions
A number of still-image editing operations can be performed directly in the camera, eliminating the need to download images to a personal computer for editing. Because the edited version is automatically stored in a separate area of memory, there is no need to worry that the original image will be overwritten. In addition, Motion-JPEG shooting capability is also provided.

Crop and Merge ( 2 in 1 ) Function
When this feature is activated, the camera will automatically combine the next two pictures taken into a single split-screen image. By shooting a variety of different subjects, users can discover new ways to have fun.

Monochrome & Sepia Modes
Monochrome or sepia-tone versions of photos taken in color can be saved separately at the touch of a button.

Resize Function

Easy-to-Use Menu-Based Controls
To further enhance operating ease, the CAMEDIA C-2Zoom is equipped with the menu-based control system first introduced on the CAMEDIA C-700 Ultra Zoom. The menu is displayed on the camera's built-in color LCD monitor and features a tabbed directory with four gateways: one gateway gives users access to all of the camera's settings; the others provide quick access to frequently used settings. As a result, users can instantly access the setting they want.

TruePic Image Processing
The CAMEDIA C-2Zoom features the exclusive Olympus TruePic image processing technology that is also found in our top-of-the-line CAMEDIA E-20 digital SLR. Even when shooting at smaller image sizes for monitor/web display or e-mail attachment use, image quality is high because the image is drawn from all of the pixel data captured by the 2.11-megapixel CCD.

Pre-Set White Balance Settings
When lighting conditions make it difficult to obtain correct color balance with the Auto setting, users can choose from four pre-set white balance settings ( Clear Sky, Cloudy Sky, Incandescent Lamp and Fluorescent Lamp ).

Versatile Flash Modes
The built-in flash offers a choice of six flash modes: Auto Flash ( auto flash in low light and backlight ), Red-Eye Reducing Flash, Night Scene Red-Eye Reducing Flash, Flash Off, Fill-In Flash and Night Scene.

Manual Exposure Compensation
+-2EV exposure compensation can be set in 0.5EV increments.

2.5x Digital Zoom
Seamless 2.5x digital zoom can be combined with the camera's 3x optical zoom to achieve maximum zoom power of up to 7.5x. Maximum power in SQ mode ( 640 x 480 ) is 5x.

High-Precision LCD Monitor for Immediate Image Display
The high-precision, 114,000 pixel, 1.5-inch TFT color LCD monitor is exceptionally clear and easy to view even in bright light, allowing it to be used both as a viewfinder and display device.

Bright, Real-Image Optical Viewfinder
The bright, real-image viewfinder provides a clear view of the subject just like on a conventional film camera, and can be used instead of the LCD monitor if the user wants to conserve battery power.

Dust & Water Protector
An optional PT-013 dust and water protector ( available from Olympus ProMarketing Inc. starting March 20 ) allows user to enjoy totally worry-free digital photography - even at the ocean or in the mountains, or at construction sites and in other environmentally demanding business situations. The body is constructed of tough polycarbonate resin and is waterproof to a depth of 40m.

Camera Case
A range of attractive and convenient optional cases ( available from Olympus ProMarketing Inc. ) are offered for the C-1 series. In addition to three previously available types, stylishly casual brown and khaki cases have been added to the line.
