CAN THO CITY, May 27, 2025 - The 9th Vietnamese Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Congress (VGEC) was held in Can Tho City from April 18-19, 2025. This is the largest annual event in gastroenterology in Vietnam, attracting significant attention from the professional community. Olympus Medical Systems Vietnam (OVN), an event Diamond Sponsor, successfully carried out promotional activities for the event, supported by the Olympus Corporation of Asia Pacific regional entity.
During the congress, renowned healthcare professionals (HCPs) from Japan, India, and Australia delivered insightful presentations and conducted hands-on training sessions on the latest advances and techniques in endoscopy. These activities provided opportunities to explore comprehensive solutions and enhanced the attending endoscopists' and nurses' expertise and skills through extensive knowledge-sharing.

Furthermore, during the hands-on training session, participants immersed themselves in practical experiences and received direct guidance from leading experts on advanced techniques such as Endoscopic Hand-suturing (EHS) with SutuArt, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD).
Day 2
A live-case demonstration covering key procedures such as ESD, ERCP, and EUS
Continuing into the second day, the highlight was live-case demonstrations of key procedures such as ESD, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and EUS. The attendees in the auditorium had the chance to observe the procedures firsthand and to gain insights from detailed analyses and evaluations of each case.

In addition, the Luncheon Symposium provided doctors with a comparison of the efficacy of Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM) technique as well as the effectiveness of focusing on colour, texture, and Red Dichromatic Imaging (RDI) in therapeutic endoscopy. Furthermore, at the Olympus booth, attendees were encouraged to practice and challenge themselves with four levels on the mikoto endoscopy model, under the instruction of three skilled doctors. The mikoto model is designed to expedite training and improve the proficiency of endoscopists.

Alongside numerous sessions for doctors, OVN representatives were invited by the VGEC’s organiser to present nurse sessions covering basic endoscopy troubleshooting, common damage, and prevention. The OVN team also participated in the exhibition covering EndoTherapy (ET) consumables, and Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilisation (CDS) topics.
Throughout the event, the collaborative efforts between OVN and our regional Asia Pacific colleagues showcased the strength of our teamwork and reinforced Olympus' position as a leading global MedTech company in Vietnam. Together, we impressed healthcare professionals with our advanced technologies and impactful contributions to professional education and training.
