PADANG, Indonesia, December 17, 2025 – Olympus Singapore and PT. Olympus Medical Indonesia, in collaboration with Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat (RSUP) Dr. M. Djamil Padang Hospital, have launched an education partnership to strengthen endoscopic capabilities and expand access to endoscopy services in Western Indonesia. The initiative was formally announced at the Endoscopy Launch Ceremony held on 28 November 2025 in Padang.

The initiative supports the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s nationwide efforts to accelerate the adoption of minimally invasive procedures, including laparoscopic and endoscopic techniques, across all 514 districts and cities. These national efforts focus on improving the quality, safety, and accessibility of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Health of Indonesia and the Indonesian College of Surgery, highlighting the alignment between this collaboration and Indonesia’s broader healthcare transformation agenda. Through this partnership, Olympus will play a central role in strengthening endoscopy as a key sub-specialty within the national minimally invasive surgery expansion program.

The launch event featured a live endoscopy demonstration by esteemed visiting experts from Thailand, as well as a hands-on workshop involving multidisciplinary teams, young doctors, consultants, and nurses, from RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The training sessions mark the beginning of a structured education program designed to strengthen the hospital’s role as a regional training center for minimally invasive procedures.

“Through this partnership, we aim to enhance access to quality endoscopic education and strengthen Indonesia’s medical ecosystem,” said Mr. Koji Onda, President Director, PT. Olympus Medical Indonesia. “By supporting local expertise and collaboration, Olympus continues to contribute to the development of sustainable healthcare capabilities in the region.”
