December 18, 2025

SINGAPORE, December 18, 2025 – Olympus Corporation proudly supported the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2025, held from November 18–22, as a Platinum Sponsor.
Organized by the APDW Federation (APDWF), this annual event brings together four leading medical non-profit organizations: the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE), the Asian-Pacific Society of Digestive Endoscopy (A-PSDE), the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL), and the International Society for Digestive Surgery – Asian Pacific Section (ISDS AP). United by a shared mission, these societies work to advance the understanding and treatment of diseases affecting the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, intestine, and bowel.
APDW serves as the premier platform for groundbreaking research and advancements in digestive health, highlighting best practices, latest insights, and innovative techniques to improve patient outcomes. This globally recognized conference attracts an estimated 3,500 attendees from around the world.

Hands-on training at the Olympus booth with the mikoto medical simulator
During the conference, Olympus partnered with R ZERO to deliver Simulate • Learn • Advance – The Olympus Endoscopy Journey with mikoto, a dynamic, hands-on training program, where participants engaged the mikoto medical simulator through a series of guided educational exercises across eight interactive stations.
This progressive learning path covered techniques used in EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy), colonoscopy, and ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography). Additionally, “Learn from Experts” sessions provided intensive, small-group learning experiences led by endoscopy specialists from Singapore, Japan, Australia, India, and Thailand.

The mikoto medical simulators set up for workshop usage.
Dr Masashi Fujii, CEO of R ZERO Inc., Japan stated:
“Our objective is to redefine endoscopy education through innovative training solutions.
The mikoto model offers a unique opportunity to shorten the learning curve, potentially increasing the number of trained specialists rapidly, while elevating the overall standard of care across the region.
The successful completion of the Endoscopy Simulation Center marks a pivotal milestone in advancing medical education throughout Asia Pacific.”
Dickson Pang, Senior Director, Professional Affairs, APAC shared:
“Improving clinical competency is essential for meeting the APAC region’s evolving healthcare needs. The simulation center provided a structured environment where healthcare professionals can refine their endoscopy skills efficiently. This approach not only enhances procedural quality but also accelerates the training process, potentially paving the way for a larger pool of qualified endoscopists. “
Additionally, Daisuke Goto, APAC Vice President for the Gastrointestinal Solutions Division, noted:
“The Asia Pacific region is home to roughly 60% of the world’s population, and its medical needs are rapidly evolving.
We are committed to providing value beyond our products by supporting healthcare professional expertise and access to care both today and into the future through our cutting-edge technologies, comprehensive upskilling, and service programs.”
