Event Outline As a corporate citizen marking Olympus 100th Anniversary in 2019, Olympus held a special exhibition "Lens & Light technology of Endoscope, Microscope and Camera" at the Shibuya-ward Children's Scientific Center Hatchlab in Tokyo for a period of two months from March to May in 2019. A total of 13,714 people visited the exhibition.
This exhibition was realized through collaboration between the Children's Scientific Center Hatchilab and Olympus as an opportunity for children who will lead the future to become interested in science and manufacturing. During the event, Olympus exhibited actual Olympus medical endoscopes, microscopes and cameras, and also exhibited historical products such as Olympus GT-I which is the world's first practical gastrocamera. And we provided seven types of hands-on tools that enable participants to enjoy learning about the elemental technologies of lenses and light, which are utilized in Olympus products. One of visiting children commented, "I was surprised at the progress of the glass fibers used in endoscopes. I would like to do more research!" And some parents commented, "It was a really good opportunity for children to become interested in science and technology."
