Event Outline As part of both its support for the restoration of areas in Tohoku (Northeast Japan) following the Great East Japan Earthquake and its youth education support campaign, Olympus held the 6th Tohoku Study Tour for high school students. The tour was led by Natsuki Yasuda, a photojournalist who over the years has reported on the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011. Ten students from across the nation were chosen to participate, based on essays they wrote on disaster prevention in the post-2011 era.
The students, accompanied by Yasuda, visited Minamisoma in Fukushima Prefecture, Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture, Rikuzentakata in Iwate Prefecture, and other areas affected by the 2011 earthquake and its aftermath to learn about the progress made in rebuilding the local communities. Afterwards, students said, "I want to tell people around me what I saw during the tour."
