Event Outline Olympus held a seminar at Rikkyo University as part of the university's "Challenge Lab for Junior High and High School Girls for the Future of Science" initiative, which is part of the "Support for Female Students in Choosing Science Courses" program offered under the auspices of Japan Science and Technology Agency (a national research and development agency) with the aim of stimulating interest in science and technical careers among female junior and senior high school students.
To support this endeavor, which is aimed at introducing female students to the diverse career paths that can open up if a scientific or technical course of study is chosen, Olympus held a cancer lecture and workshop, plus a hands-on endoscope session, for students from the Tokyo metropolitan area. Participants also spent time with two female Olympus engineers with science and technical backgrounds, who acted as female role models by dispensing advice and talking about both their educational history and current duties.
