*1 Depending on the country/region of use, different laws and regulations may be applicable regarding the use of the GPS function. Be sure to follow local laws and regulations. Be sure to turn off the GPS function in places where its use is forbidden or restricted, such as inside airplanes. The computer app A-GPS Utility software or the smartphone app Olympus Image Track is required to update the GPS assist data.

*2 Because the GPS and other field sensors are not intended for use as strictly accurate measurement functions, under no circumstances are measured values (such as: longitude and latitude, altitude, shooting direction, temperature) guaranteed. Additionally, information may differ from actual circumstances due to effects of events such as natural disasters.

The Olympus Stylus TG series is a model optimal for active scenes with its five Tough capabilities of waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, freezeproof, and crushproof performance. In addition to the five Tough capabilities, the new Olympus Stylus TG-Tracker is equipped with Field Sensor System*2 that includes GPS*1, barometer, temperature sensor, compass and acceleration sensor. This system makes it possible to simultaneously capture movies and still images of outdoor sports while recording the log such as the location, altitude/depth, and air temperature/water temperature. These field logs can then be simultaneously displayed along with recorded images using the Olympus Image Track smartphone app, adding a greater sense of achievement and the excitement of challenge to your outdoor sports activities. This field log camera gives Olympus the opportunity to create a new category of camera.

Main Features Details

1. Field Sensor System*2 for capturing all states and movements of outdoor sports

Recently, the wearable device market has expanded, offering ways to automatically record location information, steps walked, calories burned, and other life log information. The new Olympus Stylus TG-Tracker is equipped with Field Sensor System*2 that includes GPS*1, barometer, temperature sensor, compass and acceleration sensor, which all contribute to recording tracking log information on outdoor sports. Users can select from three different options, compass display, horizontal display, or log display (altitude/depth), to display on the camera's LCD monitor the information captured via these sensors.

1) GPS*1

In addition to GPS*1, GLONASS and QZSS are used to calculate the latitude and longitude from satellite signals for high-precision location. Additionally, Assist GPS*1 can be used to significantly reduce time from the beginning of positioning until information is received by downloading satellite information ahead of time via the Internet using the computer app Olympus A-GPS Utility or the smartphone app Olympus Image Track.

2) Barometer

Altitude and water depth are calculated based on air pressure and water pressure information. This model is also equipped with an Underwater Detector*8, which helps during underwater shooting. This sensor detects water, and when the camera goes beyond a depth of 0.5 m, the camera automatically switches to the optimal mode for shooting underwater so you can focus on shooting without worrying about complicated controls. The log display also automatically switches from altitude to water depth information.

3) Temperature sensor

This sensor records air temperature*9 and water temperature. The sensor is built to capture high precision logs by minimizing the influence of the camera body heat.

4) Compass

This sensor detects which direction the camera lens is pointing. It provides an easy way to confirm direction when shooting outdoors.

5) Acceleration sensor

The acceleration sensor, which captures camera movement on the fields, measures acceleration (G) in 3 axes to detect the photographer's movements. When the set acceleration is detected, the Chapter functions*10 automatically creates a chapter on a movie while shooting. This feature supports editing and playback of climactic scenes such as jumping and landing in intense sports such as snowboarding and motocross. You can select the setting for chapter creation from two levels of acceleration and Off.

2. Advanced five main Tough capabilities: waterproof up to 30m*3, dustproof*4, shockproof up to 2.1m*5, freezeproof up to -10°C*6, and crushproof up to 100 kgf*7

With a sealed waterproof construction, this model features waterproof performance*3 up to a depth of 30 m. This waterproof sealing also enables excellent dustproof*4 performance so you don't have to worry when shooting in the mountains or sandy areas. The dual-layer chassis structure makes for superb shockproof*5 performance, allowing the camera to clear drop tests from a height of 2.1 m. Operation is guaranteed to -10°C*6 so you never have to worry about shooting in the mountains and cold-weather locations where other digital devices fear to tread. This model has a rigid construction that can withstand loads up to 100 kgf*7, an advanced Tough feature only available on the Stylus TG series, running ahead of the competition.

3. High-quality images captured with the 204° diagonal angle of view ultra wide-angle lens

1) Ultra wide-angle lens with 204° diagonal angle of view

This 204° diagonal angle of view, compact, ultra wide-angle lens was developed using optical technology accumulated over many years. The angle of view is far larger than which can be captured by the human eye, letting you capture never-before-seen scenery in excellent image quality. This design is sure to be useful in making new, unthought-of discoveries and recording wide-angled views of sports scenes.

2) TruePic VII for 4K image processor and back-lit CMOS sensor*11

This camera is equipped with the TruePic VII for 4K, based on the TruePic VII image processor used on the Olympus PEN and OM-D Compact System Cameras with added 4K movie compatibility. It quickly processes data from the high-sensitivity, low-noise back-lit CMOS sensor to produce high-quality images.

4.Versatile shooting style and superb controls

The compact body size provides stress-free shooting no matter the style, including low angle and high angle shooting. Steady Grip, the SG-T01*12 is also bundled to help with stable framing during hand-held shooting. Mount Coupling, the MC-T01*13 comes with a small mirror on the front to assist in capturing wide-angle group selfies. A high-intensity headlight*14 is built in to the camera body for shooting support in low light conditions. The quick-action operation lets you swiftly illuminate subjects for images with a sense of realism. Even when the camera power is off, you can press and hold the Info button to activate it for use as a standalone light.

*8 When shooting underwater, the bundled Underwater Protector UP-T01 is required.
Without it, the camera will not be able to focus underwater. The angle of view becomes narrower underwater.
You must set the camera's angle of view setting to Underwater.

*9 Available only in Log Mode.

*10 A chapter can be manually inserted by pressing the OK button on the top of the camera.
A chapter inserted on the camera cannot be transferred to the smartphone app (Olympus Image Track).
A chapter is a bookmark inserted in a place where a movie scene shifts. This lets you quickly select the exact spot you want during playback.

*11 4K movies cannot be transferred to a smartphone. Please view them on a large TV that supports 4K movie playback.

*12 Because the TG-Tracker's angle of view is a diagonal 204°, part of the tripod will appear in monitor when connected directly to the tripod. This can be prevented by using the tripod base plate on the bottom of the Steady Grip.

*13 The Mount Coupling is a part that attaches to the top of the Steady Grip for mounting on the camera.

*14 The amount of time the light can be used is limited.

5. Linkage with the Olympus Image Track smartphone app

The Stylus TG-Tracker is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi*15, and when combined with a smartphone using the exclusive Olympus Image Track smartphone app, movies recorded on the camera along with their tracking info can easily be imported to the smartphone. You can also simultaneously display the log data while viewing images for enjoying a more realistic sensation of the shooting environment during playback. Log display can be switched between geographical information and altitude/depth information to best match the scene. Log data recorded on your smartphone can be viewed any time using Olympus Image Track so you can check details to calculate speed and distance traveled.
