Event Outline Olympus held the Endoscope Kids Class "What are Endoscopes?" with the cooperation of the Children's Science Center Hachilab in Shibuya ward. Hachilab is a facility of the Shibuya ward board of education that provides science, technology and mathematics programs that cannot be experienced in school classes, with the aim of fostering scientific thinking way and motivation for manufacturing. Olympus endorses the idea of Hachilab and has held Kids Classes in cooperation with them.
On the day of the event, two classes were held and eight parents and children participated in each class. The children raised a big cheer by the medical endoscope hands-on to find polyps in the insertion model and by the treatment tools, used with the endoscope, hands-on to grasp the sponges that looked like lesions. At the last of the class, many children cheerfully raised their hands for the staff's question, "Thank you for joining this Endoscope Kids Class, and then, who did you think to want to become a doctor in the future?"
Olympus will continue to provide children opportunities to think about the importance of health and also to discover future dreams in order to realize our corporate philosophy, "Making people's lives healthier, safer and more fulfilling."
