Event Outline Olympus' headquarters welcomed students from Kakogawa Higashi High School in Hyogo for a company visit. After a brief introduction to Olympus' history, the students learned about the roles and history of medical endoscopes and treatment tools, and then got a chance to operate endoscopes themselves. The students also got some hands-on experience with microscopes during a tour of a showroom filled with these products. Organized as part of the students' field trip and arranged in response to their interest in Olympus, the company visit was requested by the school to help the students explore future career paths, and specifically to, "learn more about what takes place in the medical equipment business." We are grateful for the positive comments made by the students, including the following; "I thought Olympus only made cameras. I was happy to learn that medical products lie at the core of its business." "It was so interesting to touch and operate endoscopes and microscopes, which are rarely used in everyday life. Our experience at Olympus will change how we spend the remainder of our high-school days, and will help to guide us as we decide on our future courses of study and career paths."
