Hachioji is an academic community with 25 universities, junior colleges, and technical colleges attended by around 110,000 students. Olympus recently supported the 2020 International Student Roundtable organized by the Consortium of Universities in Hachioji, an organization that supports students and promotes internationalization in the area. During the first session of the event, which was open to all international students based in the Hachioji area, two non-Japanese Olympus employees presented a seminar on the theme of finding work in Japan. They spoke about their experiences choosing career paths while studying in Japan, as well as what it was like to work at a Japanese company. The 26 international students who attended the event, which was held online because of the COVID-19 pandemic, listened attentively to both presenters. In the second session of the event, the participants were divided into groups of four or five. There was lively discussion of opinions among the international students about life in Japan and future career plans.
