Olympus Selected for two consecutive years as a Supplier Engagement Leader 2022, the Highest Rating in the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating

TOKYO, March 15, 2023 – Olympus Corporation (Olympus), a global medtech company committed to making people’s lives healthier, safer, and more filling, has been selected for two consecutive years by the CDP*1, an international non-profit organization, as a CDP 2022 Supplier Engagement Leader, the highest rating awarded under the Supplier Engagement Rating (SER).


SER evaluates how effectively companies work with their suppliers on addressing climate change issues. Companies receiving the highest rating are awarded as Supplier Engagement Leaders. In fiscal year 2022, the top 8% of respondents, or approximately 650 companies worldwide, including 131 Japanese companies, were selected as Supplier Engagement Leaders.

Olympus has specified carbon neutrality and enabling a circular economy as one of materiality items to be addressed, and has established a target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030 with net-zero CO2 emissions from its site operations (Scope 1 and 2*2). For this purpose, we are engaged in manufacturing improvement activities, energy conservation measures, renewable energy introduction, and other initiatives. In addition, Olympus monitors and calculates greenhouse gas emissions generated at the raw material procurement, distribution, product use and other stages (Scope 3*2) for each category. We are also working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain by promoting green procurement, improving logistics efficiency and developing environmentally conscious products. Our selection as a Supplier Engagement Leader was made in recognition of these ongoing efforts.

*1 CDP is an international non-profit organization founded in the United Kingdom in 2000. CDP collects, analyzes and evaluates information on the environmental activities of major companies around the world, and discloses the results of these to institutional investors.
