Sharing the Importance of Screening Through the Experience of a Colorectal Cancer Survivor — A “True to Life” Story
March 2, 2026

Olympus Corporation (“Olympus”) has released the latest installment of its “True to Life Story” series, which highlights efforts that contribute to healthier and more fulfilling lives around the world through advanced medical technologies and solutions. This new story has been published in conjunction with Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
The featured story centers on Kaori Sasaki, the founder of “Peering Bleu,” an online community for female gastrointestinal cancer patients. Drawing on her own experience with colorectal cancer, Kaori shares her journey publicly through YouTube and other platforms to support those facing similar challenges.
Kaori was diagnosed with colorectal cancer following a routine employee health check. As she went through surgery and treatment, she found strength in the voices and experiences of other patients. Inspired by that support, she began sharing her own story online. Her message resonated widely, eventually leading her to establish Peering Bleu, which has now grown into a community of more than 1,300 members where women affected by gastrointestinal cancers can connect in a safe and supportive environment.
